Career Assessment & Counselling in Canmore

Feeling unclear about your next career move is more common than most people admit. Renee Meggs is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists and has over 30 years of clinical experience, offering professional career assessment and counselling in Canmore, AB. Serving clients throughout the Bow Valley and virtually across Alberta, Renee brings a solution-focused, evidence-based approach to career decisions that matter.

Are You Feeling Stuck in Your Professional Life?

Career uncertainty shows up differently depending on where you are. Renee works with clients at every stage.

Students & Recent Grads

Choosing a career without the anxiety of getting it wrong is possible with the right assessment behind you. Renee helps students and recent graduates identify interests, personality fit, and values so the path forward is grounded in evidence, not pressure.

Mid-Career Transitions

A pivot does not mean starting over. Career counselling helps identify your transferable strengths and align them with roles that reflect who you are now. Renee works with professionals in the Bow Valley and across Alberta to move from uncertainty to a clear and credible direction.

Burnout & Workplace Stress

When work stops fitting, stress and disengagement follow. Career assessment identifies whether the issue is the role, the environment, the field, or a combination of all three. The result is a clear direction toward realignment rather than an open-ended search.

Areas of Career Assessment

Interests

Sustained career satisfaction correlates with roles that engage core interests over time, not just right now. Through structured interest assessment, Renee identifies the types of work, environments, and problems that are most likely to hold long-term engagement, providing a foundation for career decisions that last.

Personality Fit

The personality assessments used in Renee's practice are psychometrically validated instruments, not informal online surveys. They measure work preferences, communication style, decision-making tendencies, and leadership orientation. The results map your personality to specific roles, teams, and environments where you are most likely to perform and feel satisfied.

Professional Values

When work conflicts with core values, dissatisfaction follows regardless of salary or title. Identifying your professional values through structured assessment gives you a reliable framework for evaluating opportunities and environments, and significantly reduces decision regret over time.

Decision-Making

Career decisions carry real weight, and the anxiety around them is often proportional to the size of the change. Renee actively builds decision-making capacity as part of the counselling process, working through structured frameworks that reduce overwhelm, clarify priorities, and align choices with long-term direction. The goal is confidence in the decision, not just the decision itself.
