There’s a couple of Psychologists, John Gottman and Julie Schwartz-Gottman, who have been researching and working with couples for over 40 years. They used to set couples up in an apartment on the U of Washington campus for a weekend with heart rate monitors and blood pressure monitors, and of course a video camera. From gathering data from these couples they came up with the Gottman method, or the Sound Relationship House.
The Sound Relationship House focuses on the friendship; connection; things that interfere with that connection which they call the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse; shared meaning; trust; and commitment. I took the 3 levels of Gottman level training and have worked with over 1000 couples using it. It’s a very powerful and effective approach to growing your relationship!
